Greek Retreat is a leadership retreat for current and emerging leaders that combines team building activities and experiential learning with opportunities to increase a sense of community among leaders in social fraternities and sororities. The retreat allows the participants to build relationships with CMU staff and community partners while examining ways in which to affect change in their chapters, councils, and community.
Greeks Take Care Initiative
The Greeks Take Care initiative strives to strengthen and further develop a community of caring fraternity and sorority members who look out for and take care of others as well themselves. We encourage members of the Greek community to observe what is going on around them, notice potentially dangerous or serious situations, and respond to the best of their ability to influence a better outcome.
Greek Week is a weeklong fundraising event for a local or national philanthropy. Fraternities and Sororities form teams to compete in fundraising and games to collect points to “win” the week. Ultimately, the entire community wins as students raise a significant amount of money for a great cause. In 2017, Fraternities and Sororities at CMU raised $83,500 for The Kristy Malter Memorial Fund and the Isabella County Child Advocacy Center.
GEM Academy aims to prepare the newest members of the fraternity and sorority community with the tools and resources to help them gain the most from their membership throughout their collegiate experience. Each fall semester, new fraternity and sorority members attend colloquiums on timely challenges facing the fraternity and sorority community.
